COLONIE – Jeanette G. Smith passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013, with her loving daughter and son-in-law by her side. Born in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Hudson Gunsaulus. She married Edwin F. Smith in 1944 and moved to Schenectady.


Jeanette is the devoted mother of Melody Jean (Thomas) Rendano. She is the sister of Norine Meed of Rotterdam and the late Lynn and Gordon Gunsaulus. Jeanette is the loving aunt of Karen and James O'Leary and Richard Meed and the sister-in-law of Emillee Gunsaulus of California. Also surviving is her extended family, Donna and Louis Rendano.


Jeanette's happiest memory was when her daughter and son-in-law took her to Branson, MO where she met Jo Anne Castle and Janet Lennon. Melody and her husband would like to thank everyone for all of their love and support, especially to Mom's second daughter Margaret. To Mom's "Meow Kitties" who always put a smile on her face, thank you Jean, Elaine, Marie, Penny, Kim, Jennifer, Melissa, Pat, Regina, Mary and her kind and compassionate friend, Sheldon. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Edwin F. Smith in 1987.


Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. At Jeanette's request, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Whisker's Benevolent League, P.O. Box 1119, Albany, NY 12211 in memory of Jeanette G. Smith.
