Albany- Jeanette Rafferty, 76, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, January 8, 2022 after a long illness. Her husband, Rick and sister-in-law, Ellen were by her side.
Born March 13, 1945 in Manhattan, NY, daughter of Milton Cycan, she was later adopted by Alice Conk and her husband. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson HS in 1962 and went to work in Manhattan at New York Life Insurance Co. She moved to Albany in 1975 and worked for Aetna Insurance.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Al, Robert and Kenny and sister-in-law Ann. Jeanette is survived by her husband Rick of 44 years. Also survived by her brother Michael (Margie) of Wilkes- Barre, PA. Brother-in-law Joseph (Marge) of Sebring, Fl, sisters-in law Mary Ellen, Francine (Robert) and Doris (Kenny), sister Penny (Fred) Castle and brother Chuck, both of Michigan. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews Barbara, Rob, Jim, John, Maryanne; Kenny, Richie, Craig and Sherry; Jay, Tom, Michael and Tim, and her favorite hairdresser, Debby Nichols who was like a daughter to her!
Jeanette was known as a generous, good hearted woman who was smart with a great sense of humor and loved her TV and remote! She was a crime drama junkie who could solve most crimes mere minutes into the show!
We would like to give special thanks to her care team Erin, Jennifer and Pam of Community Hospice, who without their help and caring this journey would have been impossible.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at Newcomer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Thursday, January 13, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. A service will be held there at 6:30. You may also join us on Friday January 14, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home to process, to Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, to take Jeanette to her final resting place.
