Jeanne Garrity

WYNANTSKILL-Jeanne Garrity, 84, of Wynantskill went to be with her late husband on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on May 3, 1928 in Queens, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Ewald Dietz. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Gilmore G. Garrity, whom she married on March 13, 1946 in Elton, MD. She lived in Long Island until 1970 and then moved to Schenevus where she resided until moving to the capital region in 2006. Jeanne was a nanny and daycare provider in her home for many local children throughout the years.
Jeanne is survived by her three daughters Bonnie Garrity of Oneonta, Patricia Garrity of Portlandville and Jeanne Westcott and her companion Barry Portanova of Wynantskill; her grandchildren Peter and Lauren Marchione of FL, Bonnie Marchione of Hicksville, Shannon Clancy of FL, Dennis Heaney of Portlandville, Heather and Werner Stitch of PA, William Alvarez of Portlandville, Michelle Westcott of Queens, Jennifer Westcott of Hudson, and Kimberly Westcott of Oneonta; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Jeanne.
