Jeanne E. Walsh

May 26, 1962 — August 25, 2021

Jeanne E. Walsh, 59, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 25, 2021.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 26, 1962, she was the devoted daughter of Robert and Catherine de Gruchy and sister of Robert (Susan) de Gruchy and Craig de Gruchy who all survive her.

In 1990, Jeanne married her beloved husband John J. Walsh Jr. whom she shared a wonderful marriage with. She was immensely proud of her two dedicated and adoring children who survive her, John (Jack) J. Walsh III and Jenna C. Walsh. Jack and Jenna were with Jeanne every step of the way providing amazing care and support during her journey.

Jeanne was predeceased by her son Kierin and loyal dog Jonas. She is survived by sisters-in-law Mary (Tom) Snyder, Janice (Joe) DeVito, Judy (Tim) Ashley, brother-in-law Michael (Jennifer) and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Her mother and father-in-law Theresa and Jack Walsh also predeceased her.

Jeanne was proud of her Long Island upbringing and happy to have her distinct accent living in Upstate New York. Jeanne attended Plainedge High School in North Massapequa, NY where she was in theatre and on the cheerleading team. After graduating Jeanne attended SUNY Cortland receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Theatre Arts. Upon graduation, Jeanne dedicated her life to helping others by working for charitable organizations. Jeanne worked at Muscular Dystrophy Association for 5 years, where she met John. In 1989 she began her 28 year career working for the American Cancer Society (ACS) eventually becoming the Senior Vice President of Corporate and Distinguished Partners. She was so very proud of the work she did and the many friendships she made at ACS. In July, Jeanne received ACS's distinguished St. George National Award given out to only a select few who have made a significant impact in the cancer community.

Jeanne was a lover of life and of people and will be remembered for her glowing personality, her beautiful smile, her way of making everyone laugh, her quirky nicknames for people and the ability to light up every room she entered. Jeanne enjoyed spending time socializing with her friends, going to hundreds of dinners and traveling across the country making memories with those close to her. Jeanne relished being part of a large family, treating her brother and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews like her own brothers, sisters and children. Above all, Jeanne loved being a mother and a wife. She enjoyed watching her children play sports and never missed a game or tailgate no matter how far away they were. She was an ardent fan of Guilderland High School and University at Albany where you could hear her spirited voice encouraging Jack and Jenna. She took pride in her children's accomplishments and pushed them to be the best version of themselves.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday September 2nd at 11am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Albany.
