NISKAYUNA – Jeannine Rutland, 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Born in Colonie, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and Henry B. Rutland, Sr. She graduated from the Albany Academy for Girls in 1951 and Oneonta Teacher College in 1955. Jeannine retired in 1988 from the North Colonie School District where she taught for thirty-three years. She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Colonie. Jeannine spent part of every summer at her home in Martha's Vineyard. She was a prize winning quilt maker and won many blue ribbons at the West Tisbery Fair for her unique quilt designs.
Jeannine is survived by her devoted brother, Richard P. (Betty) Rutland, Sr. She was predeceased by her brothers, Harrington L. (Patty) Rutland, Sr., Henry B. (Jean) Rutland, Jr. and Robert B. Rutland. Also surviving are Jeannine's twelve nieces and nephews; Robin Rutland (James) Olsen, Michele (John Broderick) Rutland, Kimberly Rutland (Daniel) Kosinski, Richard P. (Tara) Rutland, Jr., Harrington L. (Patty) Rutland, Jr., Judy Guice, Nancy Rutland, David Rutland, Lori Rutland, Robert Rutland, Rebecca (Jeremy) Little, and Henry B. (Cindy) Rutland, III. Fifteen great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
