SCHENECTADY – Jeffrey W. Oesch, 62, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Jeff was born on January 30, 1951 in Corry, PA and was the son of the late John Yoder and Eleanor Lois (Tubbs) Oesch.
Jeff was a longtime devoted member of the Pineview Community Church where he served faithfully as an ESL teacher and elder. He also worked for Pineview Pre-School as an assistant teacher, teacher and later as interim director. He worked for the Albany ARC as a resident assistant and day treatment teacher's assistant until his retirement in 2001.
His commitment to faith and church often meshed with his work life, taking him to Kokomo, Indiana to work as a pastor of First Brethren Church of Kokomo and as a short term missionary in such far off places as Poland, Kenya and Mozambique.
Jeff enjoyed his bible reading, singing and playing guitar. He especially loved spending time with his family and ministering to children. He was a warm and loving individual with great concern for others, beloved by everyone he met.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ruth J. (Gerry) Oesch; his loving sons, Jeffrey Oesch II, Jonathan Oesch (Melissa), and Angelo Oesch; his siblings, John Oesch (Kathy), Judy Wilkenson (Larry), Jeannine Faris, and Joel Oesch (Sandy); many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and a special great niece and goddaughter, Jessica Cameron. He was predeceased by his nephew, Timothy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Pineview Community Church, 251 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
