Jennie Marie Chiera

TROY-Jennie Marie Chiera, 98, of Troy, NY passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy surrounded by her loving sons. She was born on December 10, 1915 in Troy, NY the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Franzilli) Nusca. Jennie attended school # 10 in Troy, NY until going to work for Tiny Town Tots. She also worked at the Watervliet Arsenal during WWII. When she became a mother, she devoted her life to her sons. She was a member of the Troy Senior Citizens and she enjoyed crocheting. Jennie also attended bingo at least three days a week.
Jennie is survived by her beloved children Anthony Chiera (Elizabeth), John Chiera (Geraldine Epting), Michael Chiera (Mary Ann) and Dominick Chiera (Louise); eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by her sisters Catherine Soldani, Frances Marro, Mary Marchese and Theresa Zandri.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, 28 Church St. Troy.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rosewood Gardens, Troy, NY or to St Mary's Hospital, Troy, NY in memory of Jennie.
