ALBANY - Jennie T. Barretta, 89, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Teresian House in Albany with her loving family by her side.
Born in Albany on May 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta (Cipri) Vivenzio. She worked as a clerk for the Albany County Court House in Albany and enjoyed her part time work at the Colonie Elks Club. She loved to cook for her family - she was "the best cook in the world", taking care of and spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Jennie is survived by her daughters, Carol (Kenneth) Allen of Oakville, CT and Donna M. Gates of Colonie; her grandchildren, Michele (David) Ciccone, Jeffrey (Lisa) Buenau, Carrie (Artie) Schloth, and Stephanie (Gary) Weinlein; her great grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Anacapri and Alixandria Ciccone, Jack and Olivia Buenau, Katie and Alex Schloth, and Adelyn and Benjamin Weinlein; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Cataldo J. Barretta; her brother, Anthony Vivenzio; and her sisters, Mary Calabro and Beatrice Esslinger.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Infant of Prague Chapel at Teresian House in Albany. A calling hour will be held prior from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Teresian House. Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
