Jennifer L. Halek

Jennifer Lanthier Halek, 50, of Colonie NY, passed away December 15, 2016 after an 8 year battle with breast cancer. Jennifer was born in Albany NY and was a daughter of the late Raymond & Jeanne (Belisle) Lanthier of Wilmington NC, formerly of Clifton Park NY.

Jennifer was the beloved wife of Kevin Halek and mother of two young children, Lauren and Benjamin. She is also survived by her sister, Victoria Wade of Leland NC, several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

A 1984 graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Jennifer earned a BA in Marketing from Lemoyne College in 1988. For the last 18 years of her career, Jennifer served as a Senior Learning & Development Specialist at MVP Healthcare. She was a member of the Association of Training Development, and held a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.

Jennifer loved spending time with friends and family, especially her husband and children. She enjoyed her pets, family trips to the Caribbean, watching soccer and decorating their home. Jen rejected the idea that she lost to a battle with cancer. Instead she believed that she had won a joyful, rewarding time with her loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, December 19 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, December 20 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, corners of 4th Ave and 115th Street, Troy. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
