Albany - Jerome H. Salsburg, Sr. 71, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
Born on April 23, 1946 in Albany, the son of the late Harold and Lois Metzger Salsburg.
Jerome was a United States Army 199th Light Infantry Veteran, proudly serving his country through two tours from 1966-1971; in which he was awarded two Purple Heart awards. He worked various jobs throughout his life, retiring from Kaman Industrial Technologies in Latham. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Albany and a member of the men's Choir. Jerome was involved with the Tri-County Council Vietnam Era Veterans; and he and his wife were involved in the Washin-Ryu Karate, both located in Albany. He loved to do various projects, from building model ships to making jewelry; every year he would decorate the house for Christmas, although his favorite holiday was Halloween and he loved animals, especially his five dogs.
Jerome was the husband of 49 years to Georgette Wildman-Salsburg; father of Jerome H. Salsburg, Jr (Shelly); brother to Linda Hendricks (Evan); grandfather to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; close friends, Raymond & Jean Latham; sister-in-law, Jeanne Pezzulo (Paul). He was predeceased by his daughter, Jeanne Marie Salsburg Ortiz; grandson, Hector Ortiz; sisters, Corliss Kaminski and Bertha Smith.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends may attend will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 1pm – 3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A going home service for Jerome will immediately follow at 3pm. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11am at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
