Suddenly on Friday August 14, 2015, Jerry Joseph (Vaughan) Faine, 29, died as a result of injuries sustained from a hit and run accident on State Street in Schenectady.
Born in Glens Falls, NY, Jerry spent most of his young life in Washington County, moving to Albany at the age of 6.
Jerry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Lisa C. Mazza) Carter, Sr.; Mr. Jonathan D. Faine; Ms. Gina Marie Bates; Ms. Joan Winchell and Mr. Jerry L. Vaughan, Sr.
Jerry is the brother of Michael Gerenstein (deceased); Joseph Skelly; Robert and Gary Cleveland and Michael Murray.
Jerry is the stepbrother of Richard C. Carter, Jr., Rodney Paul Carter, Taylor Grace Carter and Carriagan Ruth Carter.
He is the grandson of James V. Futia (deceased); Mildred M. Futia; Mr. and Mrs. R.H. (Helen) Carter; Mr. and Mrs. Jonas (Gloria) Faine (deceased); Virginia Winchell and Harold Winchell (deceased).
Jerry is the nephew of Vincent and Cheryl Futia of Guilderland.
Jerry is the cousin of Cody, Jesse, Katherine, and Dalton Futia of Guilderland.
Jerry is also survived by numerous relatives including aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was the devoted pet parent of "Nippers"
Jerry was most proud of his educational pursuits including attaining his GED, and completing an online automotive technology course with honors through Ashworth College. He was slated to continue his pursuit of automotive technology at HVCC, Fall 2015.
Despite several obstacles in his life, Jerry was an accomplished athlete winning several competitions in horsemanship and swimming. He also enjoyed running, martial arts and gymnastics. Jerry was a very spiritually devoted young man, often finding solace from life's adversities in the bible. his favorite verse was Hebrews 12 "And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of faith". He also enjoyed contemporary Christian music.
Jerry enjoyed service to others and often went without so others could have. He believed it gave him a sense of purpose to help those who also faced life's adversities. He felt they had so much in common.
Jerry's family wishes to thank dear family friend Curtis Boddie as well as numerous family and friends for their counsel and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service in celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 22 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. The family will be available prior to the service from 12 to 2 pm for visitors at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire as Jerry preferred.
