Guilderland- Jessie May Dickson, born November 29, 1941 to the late Alfred B. and Jessie May Jackson, went home to be with the Lord, July 21, 2017 after a brief illness.
Jessie was raised in the City of Troy, New York where she graduated from Troy High School. She was a long-time employee of the New York State Taxation and finance Department where she retired from in 2000 after 38 years of service.
In 1973, Jessie married her best friend Bernard Dickson, and they were blessed to have spent 41 years together. During this time, Jessie shared in the raising of his two sons, Terrance and Tyrone, which she did with much love and joy.
Jessie was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church of Coxsackie, New York where she served until her health began to fail.
Besides her mother and father, Jessie is predeceased by her brothers, Alfred and Joseph and her two sisters Alice and Eleanor.
She is survived by her husband Bernard Dickson, brother, William Jackson of California, nephew James, stepsons, Terrance Dickson, Tyrone Dickson, and Curtis Hart; her dear friends, Lucy and Billy Nye, a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jessie will be truly missed for her smiles, laughter, and sharp way of dressing.
Viewing will be held from 9am-11am on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady.
