Jill B. Wilson

September 2, 1948 — May 26, 2017

AMSTERDAM-Jill B. Wilson (née Jerry) of Amsterdam NY, aged 68, went home to be with the Lord on May 26th, 2017 after a brave fight with cancer.

Born in Plattsburgh, NY as the daughter of late Albert Jerry of Plattsburgh, NY and June Mahar of Guilderland, NY, Jill was the cherished wife of Daniel Wilson of Amsterdam, NY whom she was married to for 48.65 years. Jill was the beloved mother of Daniel Wilson II of Schenectady, NY, Melinda Wilson of Connecticut, and her predeceased daughter, Aimee Wilson. As the much-loved grandmother of Ava Wilson of Guilderland, NY, Jill thoroughly enjoyed watching her grow into a heart full, kind person - very much like her grandmother was. Jill is also survived by sisters, Kelly Schafer of Altamont, NY, Roxanne Marsh of Galway, NY, and Tonya Mahar of Schenectady, NY. In addition, Jill leaves behind brother Brian Jerry of Albany, NY and was predeceased by her younger brother, Bruce Jerry. Jill has an extensive circle of people who will miss her tremendously including wonderful sister- in-laws and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and her treasured ministry, Time for Truth.

A compassionate and radiant person, Jill was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was generous of herself to ensure family and friends were happy, flourishing, and cared for.

Jill had a number of career pursuits over the years including as a hair salon owner in Rotterdam, NY, a commercial real estate broker, and a Dairy Queen owner in Lake George, NY, which many reflect upon with fondness as it was their 1st summer job. In most recent years, she was devoted to working at her church.

Jill was known for her intellect, humor, and incredible creativity that touched everything including meals, home décor, arts and crafts, as well as paintings/murals and was commissioned to paint a scene on the pedestrian bridge in Albany. An avid reader, Jill devoured history books with zeal and most importantly, the Bible, as a woman of great faith and uncommon piety.
Calling hours are Thursday, June 1st from 4PM to 7PM at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road in Watervliet, NY. Jill's service will take place on Friday June 2nd at 10:00 AM also at New Comer Funerals & Cremations. The burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy, NY at 12:00 PM.

The family is especially thankful and appreciative of Montgomery County's hospice team for their compassion and support as well as the Time for Truth Ministries for ongoing support and prayers. Per the family's request, donations may be made to either Time for Truth Ministries or the Town of Florida Veterans Memorial Park.
