Jimmy Barone

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of James A Barone, 67, of Rensselaer. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Briana, three precious grandchildren Aubrey, Zackary James and Lucas, as well as his siblings Cheecha, Frank (Inni), Joe (Penny) and Danny, along with his many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Annabelle, and his sister Carol Ann.

Jimmy lived in downtown Albany for many years and worked for the Albany Housing Authority for over two decades. After retirement, he worked as a bus driver for Durham School Services until fully retiring in 2019.

Above all else Jim loved his family, especially his daughter Briana. He was an involved and caring father who always wanted what was best for his daughter. He was so proud of the successful woman and mother she is today.

Jim's sense of humor lit up any room he walked into. Nobody could induce true belly laughter like Jimmy. Sometimes all it took was a single word or even just a look to have you in stitches. He loved to tell stories, true or embellished, to get a reaction from his audience.

Jimmy was an example of the old adage, "never judge a book by its cover". Behind his tough exterior, Jimmy was the kind of man who wasn't afraid to be silly, and kids loved him everywhere he went.

With Jimmy, what you saw is what you got. He never put on an act or pretended to be someone he wasn't. He lived life on his terms, in his own way, and he enjoyed the simple things in life. If he had a Black & Mild cigar, some good home cooking, some lottos to scratch and Elvis playing on the radio, he was a happy man.

Friends and family are invited to attend Visitation on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 11:00am - 12:00pm, with a Time of Sharing to begin at 12:00pm, at 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. The family is asking that you bring your favorite memory of Jimmy if you'd like to share during this time.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery, 481 Rte 9W, Glenmont, NY 12077. Funeral procession will meet at the New Comer Colonie parking lot between 12:45-1pm, and leave for the Cemetery promptly at 1pm.
