COLONIE – Joan (Van Vorse) Michela, 73, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2006 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
Joan worked at St. Anne's for over 20 years, a job she loved working with "her girls". She was a chairperson for fund raising, served on the aids committee and was elected to represent her people in the finance committee. Whenever there was a party, graduation, function at St. Anne's, Joan worked proudly at making it special. At the end of her career at St. Anne's she was the buyer and coordinator of the Campus Shop.
Joan is the mother of Deborah (Greg) Seep, Michael Michela, Valerie Baker, Peter Michela, and Robyn Wilson; nanny of Kara, Jason, Adam, Mike, Jonathan, Andrew, Joey and Devin; great grandmother of Conlee, Zaley and Adelaide; sister of Judi Van Vorse; aunt of Roberta Chambers; and long time friend and confidante who was with her to the end, Nancy "Ag" Casey. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Genevieve; her father Curtis; her sister, Marilyn Martin and her brother, Bob Van Vorse.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155 – south of Central Ave.). Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
