COLONIE – Joan A. Peplowski, 80, of Colonie, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side along with her favorite grand-dog, Nikita, on Thursday December 29, 2011 at the Inn of Community Hospice.
She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Clapper Bayer. Joan was a 1949 graduate of Vincentian Institute. She was a cashier in the Bursar's Office at SUNY @ Albany, retiring in 1991. Joan had also been an outside sales agent for several years with Central Travel in Colonie. She enjoyed many trips especially cruising to exotic ports of call. She had traveled to Hawaii, Aruba, Alaska and the Bahamas. Joan coordinated several bus trips to casinos and shopping outlets, including her annual excursion to the Reading Outlets. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren Krysta and Brett and their many successful accomplishments. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys.
The family would like to gratefully thank the dedicated caregivers at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Fatima and Lourdes Units; Community Hospice and her devoted aide, Sarah Hildreth.
Joan was predeceased in 1968 by her husband Eugene C. Peplowski Sr. She is the beloved mother of Eugene C. Peplowski Jr. (late Kathy), Stephen (Dawn) Peplowski, Debra (John) Jakob and the late Patricia Peplowski. She is the cherished grandmother of Krysta and Brett Peplowski. Joan is the sister of Anthony Bayer (late Lucille). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8:30 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to St. Clare's Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, NY 12084 in memory of Joan A. Peplowski.
