Saratoga Springs - Joan Bernadette Calabro, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Wesley Health Care Center due to complications of Covid-19 and Parkinson's Disease. Joan was the daughter of the late Thomas and Angeline Santandrea. Joan was the devoted wife to Dominick Joseph Calabro. They were married 60 years.
Joan was born in Troy, New York and graduated from Van Nuys High School in Van Nuys, California. After graduating from High School she returned to New York where she met Dominick and they later married. Joan spent most of her life as a travel agent until her retirement.
Joan loved cooking and enjoyed sharing her passion with family and friends. She was always looking for new recipes and loved exchanging recipes. She was a worldwide traveler who enjoyed new experiences, cultures and art. She and Dominick returned many times to California to visit her beloved family and spent time traveling the coast line with her sister Shirley and brother-in-law Phil.
In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her daughters, Layne M. Calabro and Karen D. Roberts (Tom Downey); grandchildren, Barrett Boswell and Grace Roberts; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Shirley Haberman.
Joan will be dearly missed, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
