Fairman, Joan
Rotterdam – Joan M. Fairman, 74, passed away Saturday November 13, 2010 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Joan was born in Davenport, NY a daughter of the late Earl and Shirley Callahan, moved to Rotterdam as a young girl and has been a lifelong area resident since. She graduated from Draper High School, worked for General Electric as a young woman and then left work to raise her family with her beloved husband Charles. After raising her four daughters, she went back to work with NYS Department of OGS where she retired from. As a young woman she liked sports and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Joan enjoyed reading, golfing and was a wonderful cook and baker, winning several recipe contests in the Daily Gazette. She never forgot a birthday and loved planning and attending family parties. Above all, she was devoted family woman with an infectious smile, great laugh and a big heart.
In addition to her beloved husband of 54 years, Charles, she is survived her daughters: Linda (Mark) Tripoli, Janet Tetrault, Connie (Tom) Gardner and Maryann (Mick) Fairman, grandchildren: Nick, Mike, Marlena, Rob and Sarah, great-grandchildren: Tristin, Aaron and Johnny and sisters Connie (Ron) Bernhart and Shirley Giroux.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday 9:00am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
