COLONIE, NY – Joan Fenn-Mooney, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Melville and Grace Fenn. Mrs. Mooney was a resident of Colonie for most of her life. She was a biology teacher at the College of St. Rose and more recently at Albany Medical Center Hospital from where she retired. After her retirement, Joan tutored biology in her home. She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Joan enjoyed playing the organ and loved cats and dogs. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Frank Mooney. She is survived by her cousins, Charlie Verch and Rhea Reed and their families and Father Kenneth Tunny, Jerry Tunny and Winnie Tunny. Joan is the dear friend of Mabel and Angelo Lello, Mary Myers, Lois Ruggiero and Gladys Hyde. Also surviving are two step-daughters. Joan was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret, Dorothy and Raymond Fenn.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Francis de Sales Church, Maria Drive at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Joan Fenn-Mooney.
