SCHENECTADY – Joan Harvey of Earl Avenue, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
Joan was born on November 28, 1941 in Attleboro, MA. She graduated from Tufts University, and pursued graduate studies at UMASS. Joan began her career as a medical records transcriber at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. In 1965 she moved to New York State and worked at The NYS Department of Civil Service and retired in 2003 from The NYS Department of Health. While with the state her duties included computer programming, employee training, and public relations. Joan was a Gold Life Master Bridge Player having won numerous titles in the Greater Northeast. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to folk music. Joan was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She also loved the ocean and spending time in Cape Cod.
Joan is survived by her loving son Jordan Harvey; her longtime companion Alan Carlos, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial will be held at the Studio of Bridge and Games, 1639 Eastern Parkway in Schenectady on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30 p.m.
