Joan Ilowiecki

April 17, 1932 — June 10, 2018

Cobleskill - Joan Dorn Ilowiecki peacefully passed away at home on June 10, 2018 with her son, Bob, at her side. Although Joan suffered from dementia and other chronic conditions over the past several years, her sense of humor and sharp wit would often shine through.
A NYC native, Joan was born April 17, 1932, in Flushing, Queens, to Josepha Raha and Nicolas Dorn. She had fond memories of her time in the city working in advertising before her marriage to Stanley Ilowiecki on June 16, 1956. They settled in Glen Cove, NY, and moved their growing family to Carlisle, NY in the mid-1970's to enjoy upstate rural living. Joan worked at various occupations over the years, retiring from Lancaster Development in 1995 and enjoyed post-retirement employment with Walmart until the late 2000s.
Her husband, Stanley, predeceases Joan. Left to cherish Joan's memory are her children Edward (Morganton, North Carolina), Stanley (Mechanicville), Robert (Troy), Jim (Mary Katherine) (Queensbury) and Carole Ann (Troy), and grandchildren Julia, Rebecca, Jacob, Michelle (Matthew) and Alicia.
There will be no calling hours. A Requiem Mass for the repose of Joan's soul will be offered at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Albany, at 10:00am on June 14, 2018. Mass cards gratefully received. Memorial donations can be to the charity of one's choice, in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements are through New Comer Cremations & Funerals in Latham, NY.
