TROY – Joan Jones, 81, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at home. She was born on October 27, 1930 in Nezis, Virgin Islands and was the daughter of the late James and Ella (Brazier) Washington and wife of the late Thomas Jones. She worked as a nurse for many years and received a bachelor's at Little Refuge Bible College. She was also a devout missionary of the Home Street Church in the Bronx, NY.
Joan is survived by daughter, Patricia Backus; grandchildren, Nicole and Curtis Backus; great grandchildren, Kabrina, Guan Jr. and Amaris Williams, and Meison and Madison Morrison; great great granddaughter, Xena Joanlei Stanford; grandma's special friend, Manley Morrison; special niece, Nneka Huff-Flemming and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at New Comer cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday. Interment Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
