Voorheesville – Joan L. Long, 83, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Albany Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Joan was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (House) McClennan and the devoted wife of the late Clifford Long.
Joan graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in 1951, and soon began working for the Ruben Donnelley Company. After marrying her husband Clifford in 1966, Joan took time off to raise her family. She later went to work for Albany County, and then NYS DMV, from which she retired in 1997.
Joan's greatest joy was caring for her family. She loved participating in every aspect of her children's and grandchildren's lives. Joan was an active member of Christian Lutheran Church where she was currently serving as the president of the ladies group. She valued friendship and treasured those she made in the South End and at Christ Lutheran. Joan enjoyed the many trips she took with her senior group, playing the organ, baking for friends and family, and watching the NY Giants.
Joan is survived by her daughters: Victoria (Steven) Quay and Adrienne (Matthew) Faso; grandchildren: Lindsey, Shannon, and Even Quay, and Eli and Bennett Faso; great grandson: Chase; sister: Cheryl Rivers; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 5-8 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 24th at Christ Lutheran Church, Albany.
