Colonie- It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Joan Meschino at her home on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Born in New Brunswick, Canada, Joan was the daughter of Raymond and Annie Carter.
Joan was a very caring person, and will be missed by all who knew her, especially her husband of 42 years Bob Meschino; three children, Julie, Judy, and Peter; four grandchildren, Danny (Kelly), Beth, Danielle, and Peter; and two great grandchildren, Maddie and Jonny. She is also survived by five brothers and three sisters in Canada, Roy (Deedee), Jack (late Lil), Frank (Lorraine), Ron (Linda), Ray (Janice), Helen (Ed), Donna (late Scotty), Maureen (John); and sister in-law Hilda.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by an infant daughter, Vicki Joy; brother, Bill; and two sisters, Chris and Julie.
Joan grew up in New Brunswick, Canada, attending school in Chatham N.B. Her life took her to many parts of the U.S., and finally to Rome N.Y., where she met and later married Bob. Making their home in Albany, Joan and Bob shared many good years together, these being some of Joan's happiest. Joan loved her home, but most of all, she loved and cared deeply for her family. This included her family in Canada, and she loved and got great joy from her yearly summer trips back to N.B.
Joan operated a private daycare from her home for many years. She loved these children as her family, taking great interest in their lives. Even as they grew and became adults, she stayed in contact with many of them, sharing and taking great pride in their life achievements and successes.
Throughout her lifetime, while battling many serious health problems, Joan showed great courage and strength. Just like she dealt with most things in life, Joan managed her illness with the same strength, and fierce determination, never once complaining about her diagnosis.
Joan had a great faith which went beyond the walls of a church, as well as a great memory that went back many years with complete and total recall. She loved to reminisce of times past, with an uncanny ability to remember even the tiniest of details.
Joan, we were all blessed that you touched our lives with your loving heart, and you will be eternally in ours. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal and love leaves memories no one can steal. Joan you will live on through your family.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for their kindness and gentleness with our loved one.
