Joan Ricciardi

COLONIE – Joan M. Ricciardi, 73, of Colonie, passed away on June 30, after a long illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. and Grace R. Dunn Caulkins.
Mrs. Ricciardi and her husband moved to the Colonie area in the early 1960's. Joan had over 30 years of service as an employee of South Colonie Schools where she was also elected to the South Colonie Schools Board of Education as a member for two, five year terms. She was also a board member of Capital District BOCES. Mrs. Ricciardi was a 45 year member of the Fuller Road Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, where she held every officer position, including President. In recent years, she was a member of the Hart Social Center where she made quilts and blankets for donation. Mrs. Ricciardi was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Colonie. Joan was extremely creative and talented. She was able to sew, quilt, paint macramé, embroidery, and crochet. She loved her grandchildren and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. Joan touched many lives and will be sorely missed. She will always be remembered as having enjoyed life to its fullest.
Joan is the beloved wife of 49 years to Dominic L. Ricciardi Sr. She is the beloved mother of Patrice Joan Ricciardi and Dominic L. Ricciardi ( wife Joyce M.). Cherished grandmother of Krista and Justin Ragaini of Baltimore, MD and Kaila, Shane, and Jessica Ricciardi of Colonie.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:45 at NewComer Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Our Lady of Mercy Church at 9:30 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer.
