TROY - Joan T. (Fredette) Donlon, 80, entered into eternal rest gracefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, surrounded by her loving and caring family.
Joan was born on December 10, 1932 in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred (West) Fredette. She was born and raised in Cohoes then spending the rest of her life in Troy.
Joan was employed with the New York State Police Department as a BCI Secretary for 27 years. After her retirement she and her loving husband traveled to many places, such as Hawaii, Scotland, France, England, Ireland and once a year to Florida, which many times they took their children and grandchildren to enjoy Disney. Joan loved the holidays because it always brought her family together. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were most important to her. She was always there for all of us with a kind word, loving touch and a friend that would just listen. She will be deeply missed.
Joan is survived by her sweetheart and loving husband of 62 years, John W. Donlon. They were married on August 5, 1951. They were childhood sweethearts and have been together their whole lives. Joan is also survived by her three loving children, John G. Donlon and his wife Diane, Kimberly M. Glasser, and Colleen L. Perrott and her fiancé George Bull; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her sister, Frances (John) Renas and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Wayne Fredette.
The family would like to send a big thank you to the staff at hospice and Samaritan Hospital for all the kind words and care they gave to Joan.
