Joan Taylor

d. February 21, 2008

VOORHEESVILLE - Joan A. Taylor of Voorheesville, N.Y. died on Feb. 21,
2008 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany, October 18, 1929, she
was the daughter of Florence Evans and William Andrews, both deceased.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harold W. Taylor, the
Taylor family, her daughter Sharon A. Turner of Rochester, N.Y. and
several special friends.

Joan worked for the State of New York for 43 years, originally at the
Education Department and then at the Department of Environmental
Conservation. She retired as Assistant Editor of The Conservationist
magazine in 2000. She was President of the Pine Hills Fortnightly
Club.

She was an avid gardener, voracious reader, a liberal thinker, and a
lifelong student with many interests. She liked art, classical music,
antiques, vegetarian meals, Eleanor Roosevelt, and cats. She was
independent, determined, and dignified, with a quick wit. She spoke
her mind and stayed true to herself and her convictions. Her family
and friends miss her vibrant presence.

Thank you to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center staff and Helen Baldes for
their care and support. At Joan's request, there will be no services,
but donations may be made in her name to Whiskers Animal Benevolent
League, PO Box 11190, Albany, NY. 12211
