Albany- Joane M. DeSormeau, 81, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Anna May and John Miller. Joane had worked for a number of years for the Upper Hudson Library Federation in Albany until her retirement. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years George A. DeSormeau. Both Joane and George were members of the Bethlehem Elks Lodge where Joane had served as past president of the ladies auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, camping trips and family get-togethers. Joane's main focus in life was her family. Joane is also predeceased by her son George J. DeSormeau, and her son-in-law Leo J. Holmsten.
Joane is survived by daughter Barbara Holmsten of Middlesex, VT, two sons, Jon F. DeSormeau and wife Ann of Albany, and Robert J. DeSormeau of Albany, 13 grandchildren, Daniel Holmsten, Kara Holmsten, Lisel Krezinski, Donna Hepinstall, Meaghan Holmsten, Jonelle Mann, Ashley DeSormeau, Jon DeSormeau, Kathy DeSormeau, Glen DeSormeau, Rachael DeSormeau, Sylvia DeSormeau, James DeSormeau and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her uncle James Driscoll of Albany.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joane DeSormeau will be held on Sunday, February 26th at 1:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Lutheran Healthcare Center, 125 Rockefeller Road, Delmar, NY 12054 in memory of Joane M. DeSormeau. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont at the convenience of the family.
