COLONIE- Joann C. Gietl, 80, passed away peacefully Friday, March 25, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut on September 5, 1941; the daughter of Max and Emily Pickman. Joann was the devoted wife to Joseph A. Gietl who predeceased her in 1990.

Joann retired after 30 years of service in 1990 from NY Telephone/NYNEX. She later dedicated over 20 years to the Teresian House as a CNA.

Joann is survived by her children, Joseph M. Gietl, Lisa (Thomas P. Gabriel) Kaminski, and Laure Gietl. She was also the G.G. to her grandchildren, Jamie, Joseph N., Eric Jr, and Kirsten.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Thursday March 31, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Friday April 1, 2022 at 10:30 am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. Interment will follow the service in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

The family would like to thank Teresian House and a special thank you to St. Peter's Hospital ICU for their wonderful care and compassion of Joann.
