ALBANY – Joann P. Shaver, 73, of Albany died suddenly on Tuesday June 8, 2010 at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Anna Boyser Schissler. Joann was predeceased last month by her beloved husband of 54 years, Richard J. Shaver.
Joann was a graduate of Albany High School. She was employed with St. Anne's Institute in Albany for over 34 years. She worked as an administrative assistance and the Day Service Liaison. Joann was a member of the Polish American Club. She was a bingo enthusiast and a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
Joann is the beloved mother of Cynthia (Paul) Gentile, Richard (Tracy) Shaver Jr. and Scott (Nucha) Shaver. She is the cherished grandmother of Paul Jr., Nicholas, Jessica, Andrea, Scott Jr., and Jaden. She is the loving sister of Mary Urso and the late Charles P. Schissler III and Eugene Schissler. Sister in law of Mary Schissler, Joan Schiler and Robert (Amy) Shaver. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:00 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
