Joanne C. Chenette, 80, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2013 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Joan was born May 21, 1933, in Herkimer, New York, and was the daughter of the late Edward Robert O'Neil and Stella "Estell" (Kelley) O'Neil.
Joan graduated from Nott Terrace High School with the class of 1951 and then attended Mildred Elley College in 1952. After graduation she began working for Higgins Roberts Beyerl and Coan Law Firm in Niskayuna for over 32 years until her retirement.
Joan loved playing the piano as a child, and was very talented and accomplished.
After retiring, she spent many happy days being with her pets, traveling extensively, two of her favorite places to travel to where Alaska and Hawaii. She loved being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Joan leaves behind her grateful family; her children Curtis S. Chenette of Upstate, NY, Christine A. Overrocker of Atlanta GA and Clifford J. (Nancy) Chenette of MA. She is also survived by her cherished twin granddaughters, Rachel M. Chenette and Danielle J. Chenette and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank all of Joan's caregivers including her doctors, Dr. Fusella, Dr. Dworkin and Schenectady County Hospice.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the largest no kill shelter in upstate New York, the SPCA Upstate New York, 588 Queensbury Ave., Queensbury, NY 12804 in Joan's memory.
There will be a private graveside service in Most Holy ReDeemer Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
