SCOTIA - Joanne M. Mace, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Troy and was the daughter of the late John and Anne Cassidy VonFricken. She worked as a bookkeeper for St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands for several years, before retiring in the mid 1990's.
Joanne is survived by her loving children, Michele (John) Alois, Cheryl (Bob) Kubilus, Tony Mace, and Joanne (Dennis) Whitelaw; her cherished grandchildren, Jessie (Herwin) Diaz, Libby and John Alois, Jason Smith, Devon, Tyler and Jordan Mace, Graham, Kelsey and Jillian Whitelaw; her sister, Mary (Dick) Hilton; her brother, Anthony (Dee) VonFricken; her aunt, Joan (Frank) Marano; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Arthur E. Mace and her brother, Jack VonFricken.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Baptist Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially to S3 and to the staff of A5 at Ellis Hospital for their sincere care and concern given to Joanne.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
