NISKAYUNA – Joanne R. Di Tano, 67, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Albany, Joanne was the daughter of the late Robert Dalton Patrick and Josephine Kolchetski Cashin.
She graduated from Vincention Institute in 1958. On February 13, 1960 she married Bernard in a loving, caring and dedicated union of 47 years. Theirs was a union based on genuine love and respect. Joanne was dedicated to Bernard and he was her strength.
A devoted Catholic, Joanne was a spiritual woman with deep faith. She gave of herself unselfishly and always found the good in others. Devoted mother, wife and friend, she had the ability to quietly lead others, showing strength that others saw and she did not acknowledge. She especially adored her children and grandchildren who gave her the reason to keep fighting.
Joanne established many close and loving bonds with her loved ones and those individuals fortunate enough to call her friend, a woman who inspired others.
One activity Joanne truly enjoyed was shopping, and not necessarily for herself. She took great pride in finding something she knew her family and friends had searched for and she had discovered.
Joanne was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She always had the time to share a cup of coffee with those that stopped by.
Joanne is survived by her loving husband, Bernard Di Tano of Niskayuna; her children, Sandra (Brian) Murren of Melbourne, FL; Joseph Di Tano of Niskayuna and the late John Di Tano; her grandchildren, James Scott and Michael Thomas Murren; her uncle, Alex (Claire) Kolchetski of Albany; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Dalton Cashin II.
