Rensselaer - Joaquin Colon, aged 75, passed away on November 3, 2024, just 6 days short of his 76th birthday at Albany Medical Center in Albany.
Joaquin was born in New York City son of the late Joaquin and Lydia Colon, and predeceased by his first-born son Ace Colon. He is survived by his dedicated wife Elisa Soto-Colon, sons, Tony, Omar, and daughter, Stephany; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Sara; brothers, Elias and David, and many nieces and nephews.
Joaquin had an infectious sense of humor and was the life of the party wherever he went. He was passionate about classic cars, music, and dancing. He danced competitively during the Disco Era and taught Salsa dancing until recently, he was an avid swimmer and enjoyed martial arts, playing the guitar and keyboard at his church. Joaquin was an immense presence, adored by friends and family. He was of Christian faith and never missed an opportunity to volunteer and participate at church events.
Visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 pm.
