Jocelyn Malone

d. February 26, 2005

COLONIE – Jocelyn Malone, 72, died on February 26, 2005 at her home in Colonie, surrounded by her devoted husband and family. She lived her life fully to her last day, despite coping with ovarian cancer for ten years. Born on August 31, 1932 in Plattsburgh, NY to parents Bertrand and Viola (Coville) Abraham, Jocelyn attended St. John's High School. She later earned her School Nurse teaching degree from Plattsburgh State Teacher's College. On June 19, 1954, she married her true love, Marcus Malone of Albany. Their love grew stronger with every passing year, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2004. Along with raising her five children, Jocelyn worked full-time as a school nurse for the South Colonie School District for over 30 years. She retired in 1995 and despite her cancer diagnosis, Jocelyn still enjoyed a decade of traveling, shopping, golfing, Monday afternoon get-togethers with her "Yahtzee Ladies" and being with her family, especially her seven grandchildren – all of whom were the treasured apples of her eye. A spiritual woman of inexhaustible energy and love, Jocelyn celebrated life each and every day. We will miss her smile, her laugh, her wisdom. Besides her parents, Jocelyn is pre-deceased by her younger brother Gerry Abraham and his wife, Mary Ann. Along with her husband, Marc, Jocelyn is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Shirley Abraham, her five children: son Mark and his wife, Karen of Niskayuna, son Michael and his wife, Gail of Colonie, son Jim and his partner, Brian DeHart of Chicago, daughter Patty Kircher and her husband, Mark of Queensbury, and daughter Jeanie of Saratoga Springs. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Eric and Zach Malone, Michael, Chelsea and MacKenzie Malone, Madison and Bailey Kircher and many loved nieces and nephews. Jocelyn's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Daniel Kedentser, nurse practitioner Colleen Murray and all the staff at New York Oncology & Hematology for their insightful and compassionate care of Jocelyn. Also, we give our heartfelt thanks to Sheila Magee, RN and the entire team at Community Hospice of Albany for providing such skill and tender care to Jocelyn as well as kind support to our family through the last year, especially in these very difficult last weeks and days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare in Colonie.
