Joe Mitola

Joseph "Joe" Mitola, 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025 at his home with loving family by his side. 

Joe was the son of the late Donald and Anne (Nolan) Mitola. 

Joe was the devoted husband of over 42 years to Janis (Taggart) Mitola. 

Joe was a graduate from Shaker High School in 1978. He retired from North Colonie School District after 23 years and prior to worked over 20 years with Altech Specialty Steel right out of High School. He enjoyed camping, going to Myrtle Beach, he was an over all Mr. Fix it. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandsons. 

In addition to his wife Janis, Joe is survived by his daughters Jessica (Nick) Allen and Johnna (Sean) Howley. He is the proud Papa to Joey and Nolan. He is the brother of Donald Jr., Dennis (Candy), Sandra (Dan), Kathy (Bill), Sharon (Don), MaryLee (Todd) and Patrick (Robin). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. 

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY on Thursday January 16, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Friday January 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 in Joe's memory.
