Joel Nikiforov, 40, passed into eternal life March 10, 2021. He was born in Albany, NY to Barbara and Alex Nikiforov.
He is survived by his wife, Renee' (nee Klauss); his maternal Grandmother, Charlotte Schwendinger; his parents: Barbara and Alex and his siblings: twin brother, Dimitri (Stacy), Kosma (Heidi), and Paul (Nanette); his five nieces: Anna, Nadia, Ella, Julia, and Kira and five Godchildren: Korrin, Vivian, Adrian, Ella and Nicholas.
Joel graduated from Shenendehowa in 1999. He then attended SUNY Delhi, graduating in 2002. Joel was a master carpenter and worked in the family business, Capital District Stairs.
He was raised in the Russian Orthodox faith. He married Renee' the love of his life, in the Holy Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church in 2010. We would like to thank our Parish for all their prayers and offers of help.
Joel was an avid volleyball player. He played in High School at Shenendehowa, College at Delhi, and NYS Empire State Games. He coached women's volleyball at SUNY Utica Rome, where he met and coached his future wife.
Joel and Renee' enjoyed rebuilding the historic homes they have lived in along with their menagerie of pets they have owned over the years, you name it; Joel brought it home!
Calling hours will be at the Nativity of the Mother of God Church, corner of Sand Creek and S. Family Drive on Sunday, March 14th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., followed by a Panihida service. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. The funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 15th at the Nativity of the Mother of God Church with burial at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Jordanville, NY. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross or the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
