ALBANY – John A. Annello, 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital, after a brief illness.
John was born on June 12, 1925 in Albany and was the son of the late Angelo and Catherine Rinaldi Annello. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 and 1947 to 1952, attaining the rank of Electrician's Mate Third Class. John worked for Hycks Felt in Rensselaer as an electrician for 39 years, then worked for 4 years for the City of Albany and he then worked at the Ann Lee Home for 11 years as a steam fireman from which he retired from. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rose Annello; his devoted daughter, Rosemarie (Robert) Dwyer of Guilderland and his cherished grandchildren, Michelle, Eric and Tracy Dwyer. He is the brother of Rose Lemme and Salvatore (Shirley) Annello and brother-in-law of Carmella Annello and Marilyn Annello. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his dog, Teddy. He was predeceased by his sisters, Felicia Testa, Mary Conde and Angela Bernado and his brothers, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, Carmen, Pepi and Maurice Annello.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Church in Guilderland. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Calling hours at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155–south of Central Ave.) on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance.
