COLONIE – John A. Morrison, 85, of Colonie, passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Colonie and was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Misner Morrison. John served in the US Navy from 1945 through 1947. He was employed for thirty eight years as a wedge maker at the General Electric Company, retiring in 1987. John was a Life Member and Past Assistant Chief at the Stanford Heights Fire Department in Colonie. He was a life member of the Rotterdam Elks #2157, a member of the Lisha Kill Seniors, Lisha Kill Reformed Church and a longtime volunteer at the Scottish Games.
John is the beloved husband of 63 years to Anna May Morrison. He is the devoted father of William A. (Deborah) Morrison, Janice A. Mersinger (late Mario) and Patricia A. (Emery) Dergosits. He is the brother of Dorothy Harvey and Edna (George) Sehmel. John is the cherished grandfather of Thomas (Jean) and Trevor (Kimberly) Morrison, Kathleen Leavenworth, Lisa (Steven) Trevlakis, Emery Dergosits (Kate Danbury) and the late William Leavenworth (Amelia). He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Funeral services will be Monday morning at 11:00 at Lisha Kill Reformed Church, 2131 Central Ave., Colonie. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Morrison.
