ALBANY - John A. Almy, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at The Grand at Guilderland.
John was born on September 3, 1930 in Rennselaer and was the son of the late Albert F. and Catherine L. (VanDenburg) Almy.
John worked for A & P Markets for 15 years then went to work for Conrail as a messenger for 17 years. During his years at Conrail he also was a school bus driver for Voorheesville School District. Most recently he was a caretaker at the Buckingham Park in Albany for many years. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #49 and the Polish American Citizens Club both in Albany. He was an avid dog lover and was known as the "dog guy" in his neighborhood. He enjoyed golfing.
John is survived by his siblings, Dorothy McClelland and James J. Almy Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne (Clifford) Almy; his daughter, Donna Almy and his siblings, Albert F. Almy and Ruth J. Hilton. He is also survived by his canine companion, Schuyler.
