John Martin Ashley Jr, 67 of Rensselaer passed away on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, after a brief illness.
John was born on July 21, 1955 in Albany NY. The son of the late John Ashley Sr. and Dorothy Anderson.
He was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer. He enjoyed carpentry work. While employed by the Capenters Local 291, he worked on the construction of many of the Stewart's Shops in the Capital District. He was a former long time member of the Clinton Heights Fire Department. He enjoyed his time volunteering and even still was always listening to the scanner. He loved the outdoors, you could regularly find him camping, fishing on his boat or just relaxing by a campfire. He also spent a lot of time at the local Race Track, Lebanon Valley. But regardless he would be in his trademark style of a flannel and blue jeans.
Predeceased by his Father John, Mother Dorothy, and Sister Annie.
He is survived by his son's Jason Ashley (Eve), John Ashley III; Brother Jeff Anderson; Sister's Darlene Benedict (Ben), Denise Hanley (Kevin); Niece Kaylla Howard (Rob); Nephew Lakota Benedict; Great-Nephews Jaxson and Jamie Howard and estranged Wife Patricia Ashley.
There will be a Celebration Of Life on Thursday, May 18th from 4-7pm at Denise Hanley residence. For further details you may contact the family.
