COLONIE – John B. "Jack" Simmons, Jr., 74, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John B. and Alice Simmons.
Jack was a resident of the Village of Colonie for 50 years. He worked for the IBEW Local 724/236 and retired after 41 years of service. He was a proud member of the Mohawk Antique Auto Club. Jack enjoyed restoring antique cars and gardening. He also loved to spend time at his camp on Lake Champlain. He was an avid NASCAR and baseball fan.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn (Taber) Simmons; children Patricia Strain of Latham and Robert (Maria) Simmons of Rotterdam; grandchildren Richard (Melissa), Eric, Sherrie, Christa, Ashley and Morgan; sister Judy (Ben) Stanley; nieces Tracy and Wendy, and nephew Greg.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer, 125 Wolf Road, Suite 124, Albany, NY 12205 in Jack's name.
