Albany- John E. Bleichert, 63, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, December 24, 2018. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Ralph C. and Mary C. (Spanbauer) Bleichert. He is survived by his wife Kelly A. (Gilbert) Bleichert.
John worked as a fireman with the Watervliet Fire Department and then went on to volunteer at the Menands Fire Department. He was most proud of his work as an emergency room nurse at Albany Medical Center before his retirement. He enjoyed many things including restoring antique vehicles and woodworking. John had a love of sports especially playing baseball, watching the Mets and umpiring youth sports. He loved camping and traveling particularly to Disney World.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sister, Kathleen Comtois and two nephews, Todd A. Comtois and Eric A. Comtois. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Abby.
John is now reunited with his beloved dogs, Christy, Sophie, Daisy, Gina and Tess.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 10:00am-12:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189. A funeral ceremony will be held Saturday at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
