John C. Smith, Sr.

Albany- John C. Smith, Sr., 76, entered into eternal life at his home on Monday, September 5, 2005. Born in Scotland Neck, NC he was the son of the late John R. and Hattie Mae Smith. John served his country in the United States Army from 1951- 1953. He was employed with the NYS OGS for a number of years until his retirement. John was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley (Gilliam) Smith.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his eight children; John C. Smith, Jr., Joseph A. Smith, Gail M. Harding, Greg L. Smith, David L. Smith, Eula L. Williams, Kenneth F. Smith, and Benjamin E. Smith, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
