ALBANY- John J. Carmello, 77, of Albany, passed away on Thursday October 18, 2007 at the Inn of Community Hospice at St. Peters Hospital. He was born in Rensselaer and was the son of the late Joseph and Ida Carmello.
John was a veteran of the US Marine Corp and the US Army. He had worked for the Schaefer Brewery for 27 years and in Las Vegas where he had resided from 1979 through 1996. He enjoyed music, shows, casinos, singing, traveling and the ocean. He collected coins, beer cans, mini die cast trucks and Frank Sinatra memorabilia.
John is survived by his wife of 54years, Nancy Flynn Carmello. He is the father of Barbara Carmello of Ocean View, DE and Donna (Todd) Carmello-Wolbert of Guilderland. He is the brother of Elaine (John) Scaccia, Delores Murphy, Jeanette (James) DeMarco, Joseph (Carol) Carmello, William (Judy) Carmello, Ronald (Joan) Carmello and Thomas Carmello. Grandfather of Jason (Valerie) Hall, Ronald (Erin) Onyon, John (Laura) Onyon, Gabrielle and Marissa Carmello. Great grandfather of Joshua, Logan Luke and Taryn Onyon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial n Saturday morning at 10:00 at Christ the King Church, in Guilderland. There will be no calling hours. Military honors will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 at Saratoga National VA Cemetery in Schuylerville. Memorial contributions mat be made to the American Cancer Society 260, Osborne Rd., Loudonville NY 1221 in memory of John J. Carmello.
