Latham- John J. Coppola Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2018. He was the son of the late John Coppola Sr. and Rosalia Coppola. John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, MaryAnn Coppola and their two sons, Paul Coppola and Chris Coppola.
John worked as an engineer for Christy Industries in Brooklyn as head designer of security alarm systems. After moving to Latham in 1978, he worked with local college students on computer and electrical class projects. Throughout the years, John was the family repairman of anything that was plugged into the wall, which he always did out of love. He was a great storyteller, whether it was from his days wiring buildings and installing burglar alarms, or talking about the latest UFO documentary he had seen. John was an inventor ahead of his time, always trying to come up with the next new thing. In fact, he invented a security system which would automatically dial the police when an alarm went off. John was a great family man, always looking forward to birthday parties, cousins' parties, and the annual "hunting" trip.
John is also survived by his two sisters, Rosalie Orlando (Raymond) and Ann Celentano (Joseph) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
John is predeceased by his siblings, Santa Imbriani, Michael Coppola and Joseph Coppola (Frances).
