John A. Corey
February 21, 1925 — June 15, 2017
LATHAM- John A. Corey, 92, of Latham, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born in Poughkeepsie and raised in Troy, he was the son of Nelson A. and Lena (Roughton) Corey Sr. John was educated in Troy.
John served his country in the National Guard. He was employed for many years as a tractor trailer driver for Consolidated Freightways. John was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham. John was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division #5. He was a member of the Local 294 Teamsters Retirees Club for 37 years.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Susan (Boland) Corey of Latham; beloved father to Mary Teresa Corey and James (Theresa) Corey; grandfather to Christopher and Ryan;
He was predeceased by his son John, brother Nelson and sisters, Mildred, Dorothy and Evelyn.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, for their kindness and care.
Friends and family are invited to call from 4p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 18 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY, followed by interment at St Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12205.
