John D. (Jack) Brooks, Jr., 91, passed away in his sleep on November 18, 2012 after a wonderful life. Jack was born in Rensselaer New York to the late John and Mary Brooks.
He proudly served the United States Navy during WWII as Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class. Jack worked at the Albany Felt Company for over 30 years before taking a job with NYS Office of General Services. He also owned and operated a rubbish removal business for many years. Jack enjoyed all the years he spent on Warner's lake, was an avid swimmer, a Yankees fan and still believed in Santa Claus. In addition to his parents Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife Esther and his two sisters, Lillian and Ruth.
Jack is survived by his children Constance (Bill) Clifton; John (Dottie) Brooks; Susan (Ed) Romanoski; he is the cherished grandfather of William Clifton; Christine D'Amato; David Brooks; Tina Sheridan; he is also survived by seven great grandchildren his brother-in-law Bill Hausler and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Eddy Village Green House number 2 for all of the wonderful care that they gave Jack.
Funeral services for Jack will be Tuesday at 10am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 3 to 7 at the Funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
