Wynantskill- John J. Dillon, 85, passed peacefully on Friday December 1, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born March 8, 1938 in Troy
NY the son of William M. and Grace Helen Post Dillon.
He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute of Troy, and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served proudly. He attended Siena College before entering the printing business as Bindery Manager for Hamilton Printing Company. After retiring from Hamilton, he ran his own business VB
Printing in Defreestville. He was a proud courier for St. Peter's Hospital and loved driving all the routes until the age of 80. John was a proud member of the Troy Elks for 50 years and loved his time in the golf league. Golf was his passion. The family is thankful for his friend Jamie Mac Donald as he supported and drove John to golf throughout this past season. When he wasn't golfing John enjoyed darts at the American Legion for several years.
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years Carol, his daughters Marcy Dillon(Ed), Sharon Wheeler(Scott). He is also survived by
his five grandsons; Tyler(Camille), Thomas(Rachael), Alec, Dillon (Megan), Simon and also his beloved pup Rosie. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father William M. Dillon, his mother Grace Helen Post Dillon, his sister Margaret Tegler, and his brother William M.
Dillon.
Calling hours will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 416 3rd St., Troy, NY 12180, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 10am to 11:30am, mass to
follow. Burial immediately after at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 156 Mann Ave., Troy, NY 12180. Memorial donations may be made to LaSalle Institute, 174 Williams Road, Troy, NY 12180
