ALBANY – John R. Dober, Sr. 65, of Albany, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Oscar and Sylvia Dober. Mr. Dober was a resident of Albany for most of his life. John was the owner and operator of John's Sunoco Station. More recently, he worked for the City of Albany in the Dept. of General Services, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed doing yard work and especially enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family. John is the beloved husband of Marilyn R. (Lounello) Dober. He is the devoted father of John R. Dober, Jr. and William Dober. He is the stepfather of Donna (Jerry) Gerard, John (Linda) Shell and Rosario, Peter and Marilyn Canabush. He is the brother of Carol Moore. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of John R. Dober, Sr.
